1961 Chevrolet Biscayne

This 1961 Chevrolet Biscayne is finished in black over a red vinyl interior and is powered by a 409ci V8 with camel hump heads and dual four-barrel carburetors. Muncie 4-speed manual transmission backs the big block and transfers power to the rear.  Equipment includes custom interior with embroidery, performance engine upgrades, and a recent bare metal respray of the body. 

The car underwent a frame-off restoration approximately six years ago, prior to the seller's acquisition but underwent a recent bare-metal repaint in metallic black.  During the frame-off restoration, several sections of the floor pan were replaced along with the trunk pan. The chrome shows no signs of pitting and free of any dings and dents. A cowl hood was added to allow for additional clearance in the engine bay.

15” Chevrolet Rallye wheels are fitted with chrome trim rings and are mounted to Ultra Metric tires in the front and Mickey Thompson tires in the rear. The suspension is comprised of factory components with the shocks and springs being replaced during the restoration approximately 6 years ago. The braking system has been upgraded with drilled and slotted rotors installed on the front.

The interior is fitted with red bench seats upholstered in vinyl and includes matching carpet, dash, door panels, and headliner.  The seats have the Chevrolet bowtie emblem embroidered in black and seatbelts have been added for safety.  The steering wheel is  the factory style two-spoke unit with a black center emblem. 

Instrumentation includes a series of gauges on the instrument panel including a speedometer, coolant temperature, voltage meter and fuel.  An 8k "knee-knocker" style tachometer is mounted to the left of the steering wheel on the lower dashboard.  The five-digit odometer reads 6,556 miles, of which about 100 have been added by the seller over one year of ownership. 

The car is powered by a Chevrolet 409ci V8 equipped with camel hump dual four-barrel carburetors and a chrome air cleaner.  The ignition system is upgraded with an MSD ignition box and an aluminum radiator is installed for improved cooling.  The transmission is a Muncie four-speed with a floor-mounted Hurst shifter and white shift knob.

The exhaust system consists of 2.5" diameter pipes with Flowmaster mufflers. A set of manual exhaust cutouts were installed ahead of the mufflers, allowing the exhaust to run open during off-street use. Additional underside photos can be viewed in the gallery.
