Vehicle Story

This 1986 Chevrolet Blazer was the subject of a multi-year refurbishment including a rebuilt drivetrain and suspension, a reupholstered driver's seat, and some paint. Work is documented and other changes include an aftermarket set of wheels wrapped in off-road tires, a moderate lift, and a modern stereo system. Panels are said to be original and power comes from a GM Goodwrench replacement 350 mated to a 4L60E four-speed automatic, both of which have been rebuilt in addition to the transfer case. A PDF containing scanned invoices details the work performed, with a total of more than $20,000 spent during 2020.

The build sheet for this K5 Blazer lists Chevrolet's Steel Gray (90U) as the original color with Slate Gray (82D) trim and a medium gray (90K) top, and the body panels are described as original by the seller. K5 Blazer badging remains in place on the front fenders in addition to Chevrolet lettering on the tailgate and Silverado decor package emblems on the rear fenders. A pair of drill holes is visible on the front fenders near the arches below the badges. A dent is visible on the driver's side rear end along with a few more on the tailgate below some waviness in the sheetmetal above it. The original egg crate grille is gone in favor a design with black horizontal slats with turn signals and running lights mounted behind it. The hood and cab roof have been repainted according to the seller. A Class-III hitch is mounted beneath the rear bumper and this Blazer was originally ordered with the towing package.

Pro Comp 16" wheels with a bead-locking design are mounted with 265/75 Hankook Dynapro all-terrain mud tires and are cleared by the lifted suspension. The build sheet lists rally wheels as original equipment.

The interior contains a reupholstered driver's seat lined with original equipment-style fabric. A fire extinguisher is mounted forward of the center console, photos of which reveal cracks on its lid near the hinge. An aftermarket head unit is mounted below the factory climate controls and is paired with speakers fitted in the original front door cutouts.

The rear cargo area houses a full-size spare comprised of a Michelin tire mounted on a matching Pro Comp wheel. The replacement gauge cluster includes an odometer with lower miles, so the current reading is 33,879 fewer miles than the actual total.

Beneath the hood sits a GM Goodwrench 350ci replacement V8 which is topped by an Edelbrock 4bbl carburetor and a matching air cleaner assembly. The build sheet shows this K5 Blazer was originally equipped with a a 305 producing 160 horsepower and 235 pound-feet of torque. The engine, transmission, and four-wheel-drive transfer case have been rebuilt according to the seller, with documentation in the form of invoices totaling more than $20,000 spent in 2020. Other specifications include a 31-gallon fuel tank and a locking rear differential.

Untreated portions of the undercarriage including the frame and suspension components show light corrosion.

A collection of scanned invoices indicates more than $20,000 having been spent on this K5 Blazer through the course of 2020. A walk-around and start-up video is available for viewing below.
