Vehicle Story

This 1998 GMC Sierra 3500 dually was modified by Radford Kustoms of Santa Maria, California for its current owner, who has had the truck for the past four years. It features a notched frame with a narrowed four-link rear end, a custom grille and headlights, a hard tonneau cover, and a rear roll pan that houses a concealed hitch receiver. The truck rides on an AccuAir e-Level four-corner air suspension with dual compressors and a set of 22.5-inch Alcoa wheels fitted with Ironman tires. Power comes from a rebuilt replacement Vortec 454ci V8 engine equipped with an AEM intake and is routed through the truck's original 4-speed automatic transmission and the four rear wheels. Inside the crew cab, equipment includes cloth bench seats for both rows; power mirrors, windows, and locks; air conditioning; a Pioneer head unit with navigation and a touchscreen; and a controller for the air suspension. Finished in white over a gray fabric interior, this Pro Mod build is available now and comes with an owner's manual, a clean Carfax report, and a clear California title in the seller's name.

The white body is outfitted with a matching front bumper, mirror caps, door handles, hydraulic tonneau cover, and rear roll pan, which features a concealed hitch receiver behind the flip-down license plate. The front end features a custom grille. Clear lenses cover the headlights and cab-mounted clearance lights. Other features include custom wheel well liners, tubbed fender wells, and a tailgate handle relocated to the inside of the tailgate. The front half of the cargo area is covered with gray carpeting; the back half holds the two five-gallon air tanks and dual Optima batteries connected to the twin-compressor AccuAir e-Level air suspension. According to the seller, the truck has not been repainted, but the inside surfaces of the areas that received custom work, including the hood and fender wells, were painted to match the exterior. They note a few small scratches to one of the bed rails, which are shown in the photo gallery to the right.

A set of 22.5" X 8.5" polished Alcoa wheels and 285/35 Ironman iMove tires that are reportedly in good condition connect the truck with the road.

The interior of the crew cab is furnished with gray carpeting, gray cloth bench seating in both rows, gray door panels, and a gray dashboard. Amenities include air conditioning; a power driver's seat; a fold-down center armrest; power locks, windows, and mirrors; and a column-mounted automatic shifter. Aftermarket equipment consists of a Pioneer head unit with navigation and a touchscreen, a switch-controlled amplifier, a controller for the air suspension, and an under-seat kill switch. A rip is visible on the bottom cushion of the driver's seat.

The dashboard houses a bank of instruments that includes a 100-mph speedometer, a 6K-rpm tachometer, and gauges for the fuel level, battery voltage, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The odometer shows a reading of 159K miles, 16K of which have been put on the replacement engine by the seller.

When the truck had 143K miles on it, the current owner had the engine replaced with a rebuilt 454ci V8 crate motor. That is connected to an AEM intake and a second fuel tank that holds 13 gallons. The engine delivers its output to the road through the original 4L80E 4-speed automatic and the four back wheels.

The truck is based on a notched frame with a rear end narrowed by three inches on each side. Additional suspension components include Lowboy Motorsports tubular dually arms and a four-link rear setup.

An owner's manual is included with the sale of the truck.
