Reserve Removed: 390-POWERED 1960 FORD THUNDERBIRD

OVERVIEW

This custom 1960 Ford Thunderbird coupe is equipped with power brakes, a dual exhaust system, power steering, new BFGoodrich tires, and decorative lake pipes. It has been driven fewer than 1,500 miles on a rebuilt later-model 390cid V8 paired with an FMX three-speed automatic transmission. Upgrades include an Edelbrock carburetor, a Grant steering wheel, and a JVC audio system. Finished in white and equipped with a black vinyl top over a two-tone black and white leather and vinyl interior, this second-generation Thunderbird is offered by the selling dealer with an uninstalled new headliner, a car cover, receipts, wheel covers, and a clear title.

EXTERIOR – FEATURES

The reportedly rust-free exterior is finished in two-tone white with body-color bumpers, headlight bezels, and door handles. Features include headlight covers, a hood scoop, dummy spotlights, a black vinyl top, side moldings, non-functioning lake pipes, and 1959 Cadillac taillights. The selling dealer states that there are some imperfections on the driver-side door as shown in the gallery to the right.

EXTERIOR – WHEELS AND TIRES

Chrome 14-inch wheels are wrapped in 235/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires that have fewer than 50 miles on them.

INTERIOR – FEATURES

The interior is fitted with late-model power-adjustable black leather bucket seats up front and a two-tone white and black vinyl bench seat in the rear. Features include a center console, power steering, a Grant steering wheel, a Bluetooth-connected JVC stereo with custom speaker enclosures, and carpeted floor mats with Thunderbird logos. A full-size spare tire is located in the trunk.

INTERIOR – GAUGES

The instrumentation includes a Dolphin 140-mph speedometer, a console-mounted 8,000-rpm Super Tach II tachometer, and Dolphin gauges for the fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The six-digit mechanical odometer reads 1,466 miles. The true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

The rebuilt 390cid V8 is said to run well and was sourced from a 1964 Thunderbird. Upgrades include an Edelbrock carburetor and an aluminum radiator. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a console-shifted FMX three-speed automatic transmission.

UNDERCARRIAGE

Braking is power-assisted. Upgrades include a dual exhaust system and air shocks.
