Vehicle Story

This 1983 Honda Z50R minibike was the recipient of an overhaul that returned it to factory-level specifications. Power comes from a 50cc single-cylinder OHC engine paired with a 3-speed semi-automatic transmission. Finished in Blaze Red with a reupholstered black saddle, this Z50R is now offered on a Bill of Sale.

The Z50R mini dirtbike was produced by Honda over a two-decade span beginning in 1979. This example from 1983 was the subject to a factory-specification restoration in Blaze Red which included refinishing of the frame, fenders, and suspension as well as the application of replacement decals to the fuel tank.

Silver-painted 8” steel wheels are mounted to knobby tires. This minibike has a backbone type frame and rides on an inverted fork suspension, featuring dual hydraulic rear shocks. Braking is handled by front and rear drums.

An MX-style handlebar offers a run switch at the right along with a brake lever and throttle assembly.

The black vinyl seat was reupholstered as part of the restoration and bears “Z” in white on either side. The bike does not have instruments and mileage is not known.

The air-cooled, four-stroke OHC 50cc engine was rebuilt as part of the restoration, is fueled by a 1.3-gallon tank, and started with a kickstarter. Power is directed to the rear wheel via a 3-speed semi-automatic transmission.
