25-Mile 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Silver Anniversary Edition

This 1978 Chevrolet Corvette Silver Anniversary shows just over 25 actual miles and has never been titled.  It is finished in Charcoal Silver and Silver Metallic over Oyster leather and powered by an L82 350ci V8 engine paired with a three-speed automatic transmission.  Equipment includes a posi-traction rear differential, power steering, and power-assisted disc brakes. A handwritten log accompanying the car indicates that it was ordered in November 1977. It was delivered at Bill Dean Chevrolet in Conway, Arkansas to its original owner on August 14, 1978 with four miles on the odometer. This Corvette is now offered with a Manufacturer Statement of Origin (MSO) as it has never been titled.

All Corvettes from the model year 1978 received special “25th Anniversary” emblems on the front and rear. However, only the Silver Anniversary Edition, a $399 option at the time, included a two-tone paint scheme in Charcoal Silver and Silver Metallic. This marked the first time since 1961 that the Corvette was available in a two-tone color combination from the factory. A reversed color combo pinstripe runs along the body line and wheel arches to separate the colors. Additional exterior features of the Anniversary edition model include sport mirrors and aluminum wheels 

Optional 15” x 8” cast-aluminum wheels are fitted with the factory original Goodyear Polysteel white-letter radial ply tires in 225/70-15 size. The seller indicates that due to age, the tires should be replaced if the car is to be put into regular service.

The interior is fitted in Oyster leather with bucket seats and cut pile carpeting with carpeted floor mats.  The car is equipped with a three-spoke, tilt-adjustable steering wheel, air conditioning, power windows, cruise control, Soft-Ray tinted glass, and the Convenience Group option.  The window sticker indicates this car has an anti-theft audio alarm system. 

Instrumentation includes a speedometer, tachometer, water temperature gauge, voltmeter, oil pressure gauge, and trip odometer.  The odometer reads just 25.1 miles. 

The four-barrel “L82” 350 V8 engine was factory rated at 185 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque.  The seller indicates that there are few service records as the vehicle only traveled 25 miles over its lifetime.  However, a recent service in July 2020 included a rebuild of the brake calipers, a new battery, and an oil change.  The seller states that all items required to make the vehicle run, drive, and stop as it should have been addressed.   

The window sticker shows original equipment and a total price of $12,283.  The sale includes the car’s original Delco Freedom battery, build sheet, and other documentation from the original owner.
