31k-Mile 2003 Mercedes-Benz SL500

This 2003 Mercedes-Benz SL500 roadster is a two-owner, enthusiast-owned example with only 31k miles and powered by a 5.0-liter V8 paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes a COMAND navigation system, active suspension, and heated seats. The car was originally sold in March 2003 from Valley Motors, Inc. in Cockeysville, Maryland, and has resided in Maryland since new. Finished in Brilliant Silver over a charcoal two-tone leather interior, this SL500 is now offered with service records, spare parts, original books, extra keys, a cover, the original window sticker, a clean CARFAX report, and a clear Maryland title in the seller’s name.

The body retains its original Brilliant Silver (744) finish and has been garage-kept and fair-weather-driven since new according to the seller. It has a color-matched, power-operated retractable hardtop, and features fog lamps, vented front fenders with accent trim, and a polished dual exhaust system. The seller reports that the retractable top is functioning properly. 

Factory-optioned 19” aluminum SL65 AMG wheels are wrapped in five-year-old Michelin Pilot Sport tires with about 50% tread life, and the original 17” alloy wheels will go with the car per the seller. An Active Body Control (ABC) active suspension aids handling, with an independent 4-link setup in the front and an independent 5-arm multi-link in the rear. Braking is handled by 4-wheel discs with Mercedes-branded calipers.

The interior is fitted with heated and 12-way power seats two-tone charcoal leather (201) seats, along with matching door panels, dash, and carpet. There is wood trim throughout the cabin, including the center stack and door panels. Amenities include a dual-zone automatic climate control system and an 8-speaker Bose audio system equipped with COMAND navigation and a 6-disc CD changer.

Instrumentation is framed by a multi-function steering wheel and consists of a 160-mph speedometer, 7k tachometer, and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The digital odometer shows approximately 31k miles, which the seller asserts is accurate.

The 5.0-liter 24-valve V8 is original to the vehicle and has been well-maintained per the seller. It was factory-rated at 302 horsepower and 339 lb-ft of torque when new and is paired with a 5-speed electronic-touch-shift automatic transmission. An oil change was performed in October 2020, and the transmission was serviced in October 2017.

The CARFAX report shows no history of accidents or damage and a passing Maryland state emissions inspection in November 2019. The sale includes the original window sticker showing an MSRP of $89,055, the car’s original 17” wheels, a cover, and extra parts including oil, cabin filters, driving light bulbs, and service records. The seller indicates that there is Mercedes-Benz extended warranty coverage available for the brake system.
