Vehicle Story

This 1974 Pontiac Firebird Formula Hardtop coupe retains its a 455ci V8, which is paired with a Turbo Hydramatic 3-speed automatic transmission, and came factory-equipped with air conditioning, power disc brakes, and a dual exhaust system. This Firebird is finished in red over a newer white vinyl interior and is now offered with a clear Oregon title.

A red respray is complemented by color-keyed front and rear bumpers with contrasting black bodyside moldings. Factory-correct exterior decals are in place, including a “screaming eagle” on the ram-air hood, as well as Formula branding on the lower rocker panels and on the 3-piece lip spoiler at the rear.

Correct Pontiac 5-spoke 15” Rally II wheels with logo center caps and chrome trim rings are wrapped in Super GT Sport tires. The car was optioned with power steering and power front disc brakes.

The interior is fitted with white vinyl bucket seats and matching door panels, offset by red carpet, embroidered floor mats, and dash with aluminum instrument bezels. Factory air conditioning is functional, and an AM/FM/cassette head unit is installed and wired to console-mounted speakers. Photos show some sag in the driver's seat's outer bolster and a few dark spots on the passenger-side carpet mat near the transmission tunnel.

Instrumentation is framed by a 3-spoke Formula steering wheel with tilt and consists of a 160-mph speedometer, an 8k tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, voltage, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The 5-digit mechanical odometer shows approximately 96k miles, though true mileage is unknown.

The 455ci V8 was factory-rated at 290 horsepower and 395 lb-ft of torque when new, and it sends power to the rear wheels via a 3-speed Turbo Hydramatic automatic transmission.

Additional photos showing the condition of the undercarriage are available in the gallery.

@Clint – Whats up with the black tap on the dash pad ? Also do u have any more underside pics other than the one showing ? Tks, ...

Black tape on the dash and console are to cover cracks..... No Carfax its a 1974 without documentation since 1974 I cant justify any information. The respray was done several years ago. Never been wrecked. I haven't seen this beauty leak or smoke. Shifts firm no slipping, A/C and compressor works.
