Vehicle Story

This 1951 GMC 100 custom pickup received a frame-off restoration and is powered by a 350ci Chevrolet crate engine with an Edelbrock carburetor, Sanderson headers, and electronic ignition backed by an automatic transmission.  Finished in matte black, the interior is upholstered with gray vinyl.  Owned by the seller for the past 25 years, modifications include a reinforced frame and front disc brakes.  Located in San Carlos, California, this 1/2 ton GMC is now offered on a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The vehicle is painted matte black and was the recipient of a frame-off restoration in the 1990s as well as a full repaint in 2017.  The frame was reinforced at that time, and the front-end components from a Chevrolet Malibu were installed.  The body has received some customization in the form of an accenting maroon grille with professionally-painted pinstriping on the hood and an accent stripe along the sides and tailgate.  A sliding rear window was installed the taillights have been mounted into the rear roll pan.  The wood planks in the bed are claimed to be original by the seller.

Aftermarket 5-spoke 19” dark gray Torque Thrust wheels with a polished lip are mounted to new tires on all four corners.  The pickup is equipped with power disc brakes.

The interior is fitted with dark gray carpeting and a lighter gray vinyl split-bench seat that is power-adjustable. A fold-down center armrest is equipped in the middle, and a custom floor-mounted center console with dual cup holders is mounted on the floor.  The door panels are upholstered in vinyl and gray and have manual cranks for the windows, and the dash is gray with maroon and white pinstriped accents.  The shift lever for the transmission is column-mounted.  There is sound deadening material mounted throughout the cabin.

Instrumentation includes a symmetrical chrome-rimmed gauge layout with a 120-mph speedometer, along with accompanying readouts for oil pressure, fuel level, voltage, and coolant temperature.  Additional aftermarket gauges are mounted below the dash.  The 5-digit odometer reads 18k miles, which are the miles since the restoration was completed.  True mileage on the vehicle is unknown.

The 350ci V8 is a crate motor that has been upgraded with an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and Sanderson headers, as well as a K&N air cleaner.  The vehicle is equipped with electronic ignition and a fuel cell installed underneath the bed.  Power is transferred to the rear wheels through a Turbo 350 automatic transmission and a 9” Ford rear end.

The stock frame has been reinforced and a dual exhaust system is equipped.
