This 1986 Chevrolet El Camino SS is finished in black over a burgundy interior and is powered by a 305ci V8 paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission. It was one of 1,000 cars sent to Choo Choo Customs of Chattanooga, Tennessee, to be equipped with the SS style front end for the 1986 model year. Equipment includes dual exhaust, air conditioning, carpeted bed, tonneau cover, and power accessories. Located in Saint Johns, Florida, this El Camino is now offered with a clean CARFAX report on a clear Florida title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in black with accenting chrome side molding and wheel well trim and retains most of its factory finish, with only the hood and scoop having been repainted. The exterior features a fiberglass tonneau cover over the bed and a windshield visor added by the owner, while the hood scoop and El Camino SS decals are factory. The black grille contains an SS decal and Choo Choo Customs cursive script. An additional decal for Choo Choo Customs is also featured on the tailgate along with El Camino SS identification. The Monte Carlo SS style front end features a four-headlight setup with lower turn indicators and an air dam, while the rear retains the factory chrome bumper and dual exhaust with chrome tips.
Factory 14” Rallye wheels are finished in black with polished trim rings and mounted to whitewall tires on all four corners. The suspension features new shocks and springs, while braking features power disc brakes up front and drums in the rear.
The interior is fitted with bucket seats upholstered in burgundy cloth with matching carpeting, door panels, and dash. A center console with storage space and shift lever for the automatic transmission separates the bucket seats. Controls for the power windows are located on the door panels, power locks, and vinyl grab handles. Controls for the heater and air conditioning are located in the center of the dash, above the original radio, while a Choo Choo Customs train emblem is mounted on the passenger side trim plate.
Instrumentation includes an 85-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer and accompanying gauges for fuel level, voltage, coolant temperature, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer reads 28k miles, which are documented and actual. The seller has added about 200 miles over eight years of ownership.
The 305ci V8 is original to the car and was factory rated at 150 hp when new and the engine bay is fitted with its original stickers and components. The fuel injection system has been rebuilt, and the seller indicates that the car does have a small oil leak after sitting for several weeks without being started. The air conditioning system has been serviced and is fully operable with no issues. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 3-speed automatic transmission.
The seller indicates that the underbody has been freshly undercoated. Additional photos are available in the gallery
