Vehicle Story

OVERVIEW

This twice-restored 1968 Chevrolet Camaro convertible has been with the seller for 13 years and is powered by a 327ci V8 backed by a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission. Features include a power convertible top, SS emblems, power disc brakes and steering, a custom interior, and several chrome engine parts. This custom Hawaiian Orchid Purple metallic first-generation Camaro convertible with a gray leather interior is available now and comes with a Protect-O-Plate, restoration documentation, original owner’s manuals, and a clear Texas title in the seller’s name.

EXTERIOR - FEATURES

The exterior was finished in custom Hawaiian Orchid Purple metallic with painted metallic silver D90 SS stripes in 2004 as part of a second restoration. It features chrome bumpers, an SS hood with chrome louvers, SS emblems, and wheel well moldings. Additional features include driver- and passenger-side mirrors, a quartz grey power-operated convertible top, rocker moldings, a rear spoiler, a power antenna, and dual taillight housings with integrated reverse lights.

EXTERIOR - WHEELS AND TIRES

A set of polished aluminum 5-spoke American Racing wheels is wrapped in radial tires.

INTERIOR - FEATURES

The front bucket seats, rear seat, trim, and door panels have been upholstered with gray leather. Features include gray carpeting, gray floor mats with Camaro logos, a center console with an automatic horseshoe shifter, a body-color dashboard, a gray padded leather dashboard cover, and matching center trim. Additional features include a billet aluminum two-spoke steering wheel with a leather grip, power brakes, and power steering.

INTERIOR - GAUGES

According to the seller, the odometer reads 5,500 miles but the true mileage on this vehicle is unknown. Auxiliary gauges are mounted behind the shifter.

ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION

Power is provided by a 327ci V8 backed by a Powerglide two-speed automatic transmission. Underhood features include power brakes with a chrome booster and master cylinder, aluminum valve covers, a polished aluminum intake, a four-barrel carburetor, and an aluminum air cleaner housing. Additional features include chrome hose covers, a chrome alternator, chrome hood hinges, a polished aluminum battery cover, and a polished aluminum radiator with a custom-etched fan shroud. All underhood areas including the firewall, inner fenders, and core support have been smoothed and refinished to match the body color. According to the seller, an oil change was completed in March of 2021.

UNDERCARRIAGE

This Camaro was factory-equipped with an independent front suspension and a solid rear drive axle. The undercarriage is painted to match the body color and the front chassis stub, rear axle, and gas tank have been smoothed and refinished in silver. Per the seller, the driveshaft and oil pan are chrome. Braking is provided by power front disc brakes and rear drums. Additional photos of the undercarriage can be seen in the carousel to the right.

@weflo – Is the motor original ? Any smoking or knocking noise? Does all electrical work? ...

Yes original block that was rebuilt about 3K miles. Does not smoke. Does not knock but is louder than stock due to mild cam installed during rebuild. All electrical works with exception of fuel gauge. Just noticed when I pulled it out of garage for photo shoot. Having mechanic look at it and will be working prior to sale. Hope this helps in your search.
