Vehicle Story

This 1972 MG Midget roadster is a running and driving project car that received recent work on the carburetors, ignition system, clutch, and brakes. It is powered by a 1,275cc inline-4 paired with a 4-speed manual transmission and equipped with chrome accent trim, 14-inch Rostyle wheels, and a padded “safety” dash. Finished in metallic light blue with a black retractable top over a black vinyl interior, this Midget MkIII is now offered with a clear California title in the seller’s name.

This 1972 MG Midget convertible was manufactured in October 1971 and received new metallic light blue paint under prior ownership. Accents include chrome brightwork for the headlight rings, bumpers, window surrounds, handles, and other exterior trim. The seller’s video shows body and paint damage on the passenger-side front corner and a portion of the hood.

The Rostyle 14-inch wheels are wrapped in Cooper Trendsetter SE steel-belted radial tires. Stopping power comes from front discs and rear drums.

The interior is fitted with black vinyl bucket seats, matched to the door panels, padded dash, and carpeting. Manual crank windows are accompanied by vent windows. The floor is protected by rubber mats.

Instrumentation consists of a 100-mph speedometer, 7K-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for the coolant temperature and fuel level. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 49K miles, although the true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The 1,275cc inline-4 received an oil change, replacement dual single-barrel carburetors, spark plug wires, gauges, and a new muffler under current ownership. The clutch was reportedly changed previously. According to the seller, the carburetors need fine-tuning. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a floor-shifted 4-speed manual transmission.

The seller notes that there is some corrosion on the underbody. The brakes were replaced within the last year and a half.

The seller has provided a walkaround video in the gallery to the right.

@Juliomejias51 – Gabysh ...

The previous owner had the vehicle painted blue before I purchased it a year and a 1/2 ago. From the photos you can see the original color was red and will need to be dealt with Properly. In regards to body work the front right Fender will need to be addressed As it was possibly in an accident prior to my purchasing it. The back quarter panels have some bondo in the lower portion next to the tire otherwise it doesn't seem like there's much by body work that's been done.Please see attach pictures for the underside.
