Vehicle Story

This 1986 Ford Bronco XLT is a rust-free, two-owner SUV powered by a 5.8-liter V8 that sends power to the road through a 3-speed automatic transmission and a part-time four-wheel-drive system with a 2-speed transfer case. It comes equipped with chrome bumpers, Goodyear tires, aftermarket tube steps, and a swing-away spare tire carrier. The cabin features power windows and locks, air conditioning, front bucket seats, a center console, and a fold-flat second row. Finished in Colonial White with a White roof over a burgundy cloth interior, this third-generation Bronco is available now and comes with service receipts, a CARFAX report, and a clear Missouri title in the seller's name.

The third-generation Ford Bronco came out in the 1980 model year with new styling, a 500-pound weight reduction, revised suspension hardware, and an available 6-cylinder engine. The body of this 1986 Bronco XLT is finished in Colonial White and capped off with a White roof over the back half of the vehicle. Equipment includes a chrome bumper with overriders, a chrome grille, bright mirror caps, lower bodyside moldings, aftermarket tube steps, a fold-down tailgate with a brushed aluminum applique, a swing-away spare tire carrier with a cover, and a chrome rear bumper with a tread plate.

A set of aftermarket wheels and Goodyear Wrangler Radial tires connect this Bronco to the road.

The all-burgundy cabin is furnished with cloth front bucket seats, carpeting, and black and red Bronco-branded rubber front floor mats. Features include power windows and locks, air conditioning, a column-mounted automatic shifter, a floor-mounted transfer case lever, and a center console with a covered storage compartment and two cup holders. The seller reports the door panels are sun-damaged and that the air conditioning needs to be recharged.

Instrumentation includes a gear selection indicator, an 85-mph speedometer, and gauges for the fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. The odometer reads 47K miles, but the seller believes the true mileage is 147K miles.

Under the hood is a naturally aspirated 5.8-liter V8 connected to a 3-speed automatic transmission and a part-time four-wheel-drive system with a 2-speed transfer case. The seller has had the fuel sending unit and temperature sensor replaced in their five months of ownership, but they recommend changing the oil.

As part of the overhaul of the Bronco for the 1980 model year, Ford switched out the solid front axle for a Twin-Traction Beam independent front suspension. Braking is handled by power front discs and rear drums. According to the seller, there is slight surface rust underneath the vehicle.

The CARFAX report shows that this vehicle was reported stolen in January of 1998. It has had an accident-free history in Florida and North Carolina. The sale includes service receipts.

I'd question whether it has the automatic overdrive transmission unless it was swapped in at some point. The AOD was never installed behind 351s. Not until the E4OD arrived in the 4th gen trucks did the 351/5.8 get an automatic overdrive. This truck should have the C6 3 speed automatic.
