Vehicle Story

This 1955 Ford F100 half-ton 2WD is a repainted step-side pickup that rides on aluminum American Racing wheels and features custom paintwork, a Naugahyde interior, engine bay dress-up accents, and replacement wooden bed planks. The drivetrain is said to perform well, with power coming from a 256ci Y-block V8 that is paired with a column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission. Finished in red with accenting flames over a reupholstered red interior, this second-generation F-Series pickup is now offered with a clear Arizona title in the seller’s name.

Beginning in 1953, Ford launched the second generation of its F-Series pickups with larger dimensions than previous models. This F100 half-ton from 1955 was repainted in red over a reportedly rust-free body, showing color-matched running boards and custom accenting flames on the leading edge of the hood. The bed planks and associated hardware have been replaced, as well as the rubber seals between the fenders and the body. The front and rear bumpers have been rechromed and additional brightwork is present for the headlight rings, side view mirrors, and door handles. The seller states that the lighting has been replaced both front and rear.

Polished aluminum 15” American Racing five-spoke wheels with chrome center caps are wrapped in Suntek 225/75-sized tires with good tread remaining. The rear shocks have been replaced, but the chassis infrastructure is believed to be largely original otherwise.

The interior is fitted with a reupholstered red Naugahyde bench seat, color-matched to the metal door panels and dash. The dark gray carpeting was replaced and is protected by Ford-branded rubber floor mats. Amenities include an aluminum three-spoke steering wheel and a tinted rear window.

Instrumentation includes a 90-mph speedometer, a coolant temperature gauge, and a fuel level gauge, with warning lights for oil pressure and voltage. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 40k miles, although true mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The specifics of the motor are not verified or known by the seller, but the engine is believed to be a 256ci Y-block V8 which had a factory rating of 140 horsepower when new. The bay itself is painted black and the motor is capped off by a chrome-finished air cleaner. Power is directed to the rear wheels via a column-shifted 3-speed manual transmission.

Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel. The differential cover has been chrome-finished.
