Vehicle Story

This 1965 Chevrolet Corvette has been treated to a restoration that emphasized the car’s factory equipment and original specification with a high-quality fit and finish. Power comes from a correct 327ci V8 backed by a Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes an analog clock, a radio, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. Finished in Ermine White with a newly-replaced black retractable top over a Black leather interior, this C2 Corvette is now offered with a Protect-O-Plate, an owner’s manual, and a clear Illinois title.

The Corvette went into its second generation beginning in 1963, adopting the Sting Ray name for the first time. This example from 1965 was the recipient of highly detailed restoration and received a repaint in the original Ermine White (900CC). The retractable black cloth soft top is newly-replaced, and the exterior features checkered-flag insignias on the hood and fenders, pop-up headlamps, triple fender vents, polished side-exit exhaust pipes, and quad taillamps with a split-bumper design in the rear.

Steel 15” steel wheels with polished covers and spinner hub caps are wrapped in newer Milestar MS775 Touring SLE whitewall tires. Stopping power comes from four-wheel disc brakes.

The interior offers seating for two with Black leather buckets (AA), color-matched to the lap belts, door panels, dash, center console, and carpeting. Amenities include an analog clock, a vertically-mounted Delco radio with a power antenna, and wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel. The spare tire is housed within the trunk.

Instrumentation includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, voltage, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer reads 22k miles, which per the seller reflects the mileage driven since completion of the restoration. True mileage on the chassis is unknown.

The 327ci V8 is correct for the car and dressed with a chrome-finished air cleaner, and power is fed to the rear wheels via a Muncie M20 4-speed manual transmission with a console-mounted shift lever.

Photos showing the underside are available in the carousel.

The sale includes the car’s Protect-O-Plate, an owner’s manual, and radio operating instructions. Decoding the trim tag provides the following data:
